What is Gidget®?
Gidget® is the most advanced system for monitoring, identifying and tracking biological samples for all procedures related to assisted reproductive techniques.
How does it work?
It is actually quite simple: each sample container (tube, plate…) is labelled with a unique barcode that identifies the patient, the treatment, and the type of sample. As a preventive measure, before a biological sample is moved, the source and destination containers are registered by means of a mobile scanner that automatically confirms if the samples match. In the event of a mismatch, the procedure is put on hold until the incident is resolved by a supervisor. The operator, time and containers used are automatically recorded. All the data regarding the acts performed in each cycle, from the egg retrieval to the embryo transfer and freezing, remain stored indefinitely in a database accessible at any time.
