Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine, Hospital Universitario Dexeus
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine, from thel Hospital Universitari Dexeus is a private centre of international reference, which has been dedicated exclusively to women’s health for 85 years.
The gynaecologist Santiago Dexeus Font founded the Clínica Mater in 1935 with the aim of promoting the development of these specialities in our country and offering training to other doctors by creating a university school called the Dexeus School, the oldest in Spain.
Since 1989, and thanks to the pioneering work carried out by the Dexeus School, the former Dexeus Institute and the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) have agreed to establish a secondment agreement with the UAB, which means that the teaching activities carried out by Dexeus Mujer are recognised by the university.
In the same year, the Spanish Ministry of Health granted the Hospital Universitari Dexeus the status of university hospital for resident doctors through the official MIR examination system.
Continuing education in obstetrics, gynaecology and reproductive medicine
The prestige of the Hospital Universitario Dexeus in the medical-scientific community and its vocation as a school attract many international professionals who wish to study a technique in depth.
Faithful to our didactic vocation inherited from the Dexeus School and as a centre affiliated to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), we offer different training systems to all professionals specialised in obstetrics, gynaecology and reproduction.
The feeling of the school is consubstantial with the Dexeus Mujer Foundation, which is the vehicle for sharing the medical knowledge of the professionals of the Dexeus Foundation for women. Dexeus Mujer, with the rest of the professionals in the speciality, through:
- A continuous training programme
- The promotion of training placements
- The training of specialists in obstetrics and gynaecology (MIR)
- Sponsorship of scientific meetings
